February 20, 2011

Hi All

We are still making progress at the museum dispite the deep snow.  A lot of work occured over the weekend in the shop, with much progress made toward cleaning up and making room to do the jacking on 2600.  Work also progressed on the bearing for 2600, so we should be on track at this point.  Next Saturday (2/26/11), we will finish up the preparation work and should be on target to jack the car on March 5th.  If all goes well, we could jack the car, remove the truck, install the motor and reinstall the truck all on 3/5/11.  Other work on 2600 includes sanding the doors/prime/paint and some air system work along with general maintenance.  Anyone interested in helping out, please contact myself, or come down to the museum on any Saturday.

Once 2600 is completed, and the snow allows, we will move 836 into the shop and work will begin immediately on her.

We will be having a fundraising meeting on 2/26/11 at 8:30 A.M. at the museum.  Discussions will center around the new summer events being planned including the farmers market and also the flee market.  Anyone interested, please feel free to attend.

We are only 6 weeks away from opening weekend.  Anyone interested in learning to operate this year, please contact Sheila or Dale.  They will be having recertification in March, and a new training class this spring.

I hope that you do consider coming down and helping out.  We are in an excellent position to get a lot of good work completed this year.  The more volunteers involved, the more we will accomplish.

Take care.

Galen
